The DeKalb County Community Foundation Scholarship application is now open. 2025 GKEA Scholarship Application

The Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce 2025 Genoa Days King & Queen Scholarship Contest Application  is now available!! Please see info below:

Objective: It is the goal of the Genoa Area Chamber to promote two outstanding students of high moral standards and community commitment to reign over the Genoa Days Celebration, to serve as a role model for area youth and to enhance the image of Genoa to surrounding the communities. The candidates will be chosen based on the criteria below. This contest enables the candidates to compete for prize money the Chamber provides to be used for continuing education. 

Available to: The scholarship is open to all graduating Genoa-Kingston seniors as well as homeschooled and parochial school students who are residents of Genoa and Kingston and who would otherwise fall in the CUSD Unit #424 District boundaries. It is available to students’ continuing education at a community college, 4-year university, technical college or trade school. 

Candidate Determination: To be considered, candidates need to complete the following application and application insert and submit it on or before Wednesday, April 2nd to the High School Guidance Office. All completed applications will be reviewed and finalists will be notified. 

Prizes: On Wednesday, May 28th, 2025 the first evening of Genoa Days at 8:00 p.m. on the main stage, the King & Queen will be announced and each will be awarded a minimum of $1000. The finalists will all receive $100. Participation: The King & Queen are encouraged to attend the Genoa Days Festivities, wearing their crowns, and all members of the court will be required to ride on the Chamber float in the Genoa Days parade on Saturday, May 31st, 2025.

The John R. Cole Scholarship Awards a Genoa-Kingston High School Graduating Senior a $1000 scholarship. You DO NOT need a recommendation letter/sign off from any PE Teachers. Once your application is complete, turn it into the Guidance Office. Our District #424 PE Panel of Judges will select a finalist from the applications submitted.

 The Senior applicants would have demonstrated 5 very important and amazing attributes during their entire careers here at the Genoa-Kingston High School.

2025 JR COLE SCHOLARSHIP APP

The 2025 GK Broncos Scholarship application is now available for eligible students to apply for. 

The Genoa-Kingston Broncos Youth Football and Cheer organization offers a total of $500 in scholarship funds to one or more graduating seniors of Genoa-Kingston and Hiawatha High Schools. These funds are to be used for tuition, room and board, books and supplies, or other expenses directly related to a student’s post High School education. The scholarship is available to all students who will be pursuing further education in four year universities and colleges, junior colleges, and trade schools. Before the scholarship is presented, proof of admission to an accredited
school or institution must be provided.

GK BRONCOS CHEER AND FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIP APP

GK Baseball is awarding up to $500 in the form of a scholarship to one or more graduating senior boys. This scholarship is intended to assist with the students’ continuing education after high school graduation specifically towards tuition, room and board, textbooks and educational supplies.

It is awarded to the recipient(s) that played in the GK Youth Baseball & the Genoa Kingston High School Baseball programs. His intentions should include continuation of his playing career or coaching in the near future. The recipient needs to exhibit a strong sense of community pride, demonstrate characteristics of leadership, commitment, ambition, determination and have been involved in volunteer work or community service activities.

Applicants must be GK high school seniors receiving their high school diploma during the current school year. Applicants must also have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and provide proof of admission to an accredited school or institution before the scholarship is granted.

DeKalb County Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarship applications are now available for graduating high school seniors. The $1,200 scholarships will be awarded to students of DeKalb County Farm Bureau members.

 New this year: The James M. Johnson Ag Scholarship. This scholarship is for a graduating High School senior within DeKalb County, who must also be a member of FFA or 4-H.

The Genoa Kingston Athletic Booster Club (GKABC) will award two $1,000 scholarships to seniors graduating with the Class of 2025. Kyler Zachary Foundation Scholarship

On July 4th, 2019, KylerZachary Lee was stillborn at 30 weeks gestation. Our hearts were broken, but we wanted to make sure Kyler’s memory lived on. We decided to start the Kyler Zachary Foundation with an outpouring of support from the Genoa-Kingston Community following our story. Through this foundation, we have held fundraising events to raise money for charitable organizations close to our hearts and an annual scholarship for seniors at the Genoa-Kingston High School. The purpose of the Kyler Zachary Foundation is to raise awareness of infant loss and spread
kindness in our son, Kyler’s name.

The Poplar Grove Aviation Education Association (PGAEA) awards a series of scholarships aimed at helping youth pursue their careers in aviation. Thanks to the generosity of the Thomas Family  and donations to the Poplar Grove Vintage Wings and Wheels Museum, these scholarships are awarded each year.  Scholarships are awarded to young adults actively working towards a career in aviation, not just high school students.

Northern Rehab sponsors an annual $500 Health & Wellness Scholarship awarded to one Genoa-Kingston High School and one Rochelle Township High School Senior that has participated in a sport or extracurricular activity in high school and will pursue a career in healthcare. • Must be a Genoa-Kingston or Rochelle Township high school senior.

• Must have participated in one extracurricular activity, club, or organization (athletics, music, fine arts, academics, FFA, NHS, non-profits, etc.) during high school.
