School Meal Waivers Expire June 30, 2022

The Genoa-Kingston School District understands changes to these waivers may create a
financial burden to some families. This is the reason we are giving the advance notice of this
change.

The federal waivers that offered free breakfast and free lunch to all students regardless of
income expired on June 30, 2022. This means that schools across the nation are returning to
the program for free and reduced-priced meals based on income eligibility guidelines set by the USDA.

For the 2022-2023 school year student(s) families that do not qualify for free or reduced prices
will have to pay for their school meals. Student(s) families that qualify and are eligible for free
or reduced priced breakfast or lunch will have access to meals next school year at no cost or a
reduced rate.
