Governor Extends Stay At Home Order

As you may have heard yesterday afternoon, Governor JB Pritzker has extended the state's "stay and home" order through April 30th.  This will also include the cancellation of face to face instruction of all Illinois students, resulting in each school's Remote Learning Plan being utilized through April 30th as well.  In other words, students will continue to be educated at home with our Remote Learning Plan through April 30th.

This also means that Genoa-Kingston will continue to provide meals for students through April 30th.  Breakfasts and lunches will continue to be available Monday through Friday between 9am and 11am.  Once again, those pickup locations are at Genoa-Kingston High School, Kingston Fire Protection Department, Genoa City Hall, Genoa Masonic Lodge and Genoa Veterans Home.

I cannot give enough thanks to all our staff and volunteers for their hard work and dedication to provide meals daily for our kids.  Our teachers are working hard, some even over their spring break, to be ready to continue educating our students.  I also want to thank the Genoa-Kingston Board of Education.  They have stepped up and are governing and leading in an extraordinary manner in these difficult times.  I thank them for their leadership and support.

I'm most proud of our students and their resiliency.  Our students rock!  They have taken everything this pandemic has thrown at them, and they just keep going!  They are our light of hope!

Please know that we are here for you.  If there is anything we can do to help you through this trying and difficult time, don't hesitate to reach out.  We are GKStrong together!!
