From our assistant principal, Ms. Aiossa:
Dear Genoa-Kingston High School Families
This
year we will be using the HERO system. The HERO program is designed as
a two-prong system. Through the use of HERO, GKHS will be able to
monitor students’ tardies to their first-period class, as well as to
reward students for demonstrating positive behaviors throughout the
school environment. The
“Creed of the COGS” promotes character, ownership, getting involved,
and safety, as the tenets we hope our students will exhibit. A copy of
the school-wide expectations matrix is attached. Students
are able to access their student HERO accounts to see what points have
been earned, as well as if students have been issued any behavior
consequences associated with the tardies accumulated. Families
will receive an email notification when their students accumulate
points or have been issued a tardy. Students will be allowed to redeem
these points for a variety of different items and/or privileges
throughout the school year. HERO points earned are reset at the end of
each semester.
During homecoming week, students who dress up during our spirit days, participate or attend powder puff, float building, and the homecoming game, will earn HERO points.
