Literacy
In ReadyGen we are focusing on characters, setting, and retelling events. Students are also learning the difference between fiction and non-fiction reading material and understanding unknown vocabulary words.
Phonics
This week we will review and apply the sounds we have covered so far. This week we will practice reading and spelling with these sounds:
suffix -s and -ing
Tricky Words of the Week
Continue to practice reading, writing, and spelling the first 50 fry words. We are currently working on list 2.
Math
We will finish math topic 3(adding within 20) and we will begin math topic 4(subtraction facts to 20) Our focus fact is +8/+9.
Halloween Party
Families,
Tuesday 10/31/23 is our Halloween Party from 10:15-11:15. The First Grade Halloween parade will be on the playground at 10:30. Please send your child’s costume to school in a bag with their name on it. It is helpful to talk with your child about how to put their costume on. We prefer students to put their costume on over their clothing so they can put it on in the classroom. We have limited space and privacy for students to change in the bathroom. We will put costumes back in the bag after our party. Please do not send weapons or face paint to school.
