Sapphire is one of the most popular gemstones because, for one reason is because it is the birthstone for September. It became a birthstone in 1912. It is also the zodiac sign for Pisces, Taurus, Virgo, and Sagittarius. Sapphire is used as cufflinks, necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelet, etc.

 

NASA uses sapphires and other precious medals to help analyze solar winds. The Genesis spacecraft uses sapphire for collector arrays, too!
