In 1500 BC, the Olmec Indians were the first people to grow cocoa beans in South America. In AD 600, the Maya Indians
established the first cocoa plantations. In 1674, people started eating solid chocolate in the form of rolls and cakes. In 1765, chocolate was first introduced into the U.S from the West Indies. In 1819, the first Swiss Chocolate factory was opened.  The first modern chocolate bar was made in 1847. Ruth Wakefield invented the chocolate chip and chocolate chip cookie in 1930.   

The largest
chocolate bar ever made was 5026 pounds in Italy.
