This county was established on January 13, 1825       
Origin of the name of the county was named for Philip Schuyler, a soldier of the French and Indian wars, a Major General of the Revolution, a member of the Continental Congress and United States Senator from New York.
       Present area, or parts of it, formerly included in:
   1821-1825 Pike, 1812-1821 Madison, 1795-1812 St. Clair.
Township Names: Bainbridge, Birmingham, Brooklyn, Browning, Buena Vista, Camden, Frederick, Hickory, Huntsville, Littleton, Oakland, Rushville, Woodstock. County Seats: 1825-1826 Beardstown--A site near present-day Pleasant View. 1826-Rushville--Originally named Rushton: changed to Rushville on April 24, 1826.
