McDonough County

             This county was named for Commodore Thomas McDonough, who commanded the fleet on Lake Champlain in a successful battle with the British near Plattsburg in 1814. This link shows a picture of Thomas McDonough.

             The county seat for McDonough is Macomb. Its also the home of Western Illinois University. Macomb is sort of a university town.
