My county was named after a French Indian trader called Pierre Menard. He was also the colonel of the territorial militia and he was also the  governor of Illinois. The county's court house is in Petersburg, Illinois. It was established in February 1839. It doesn't have a park but it has a historical site called Lincoln's New Salem Historical Site.
