Christian County was named after colonial William Christian. He secured Jefferson Company for Revolutionary War service. This county came to be in 1839. Christian County has 709 square miles of land.

This county's seat is in Taylorville.  In this city there is the Christian County Courthouse. There is also a State Park called Sangchris Lake Park. In this park you may hike, go boating, camping, hunting, and picnicking. Many families enjoy the wonderful scenery of the shoreline and beautiful foliage.
