Whiteside County

Whiteside County was formed in 1836 out of Jo Daviess and Henry Counties. It was named for General Samuel Whiteside, an Illinois officer in the War of 1812 and Black Hawk War.



Located near  where the Mississippi and Apple rivers come together in northwestern Illinois, the 2,500-acre Mississippi Palisades State Park is rich in American Indian history.
