Text Box: Caribou migration range can be up to 800 miles or more each year.
Caribou do not like deep snow, believe it or not.
During migration the caribou feed on lichens, evergreen, cranberry bushes, moss, equisetum, and small shrubs. They dig holes (feeding holes) to find these plants. Caribou have large, concave hoofs that spread widely to support the animal in snow and soft tundra.
The feet also function as paddles when caribou swim.
