Ginger originated from China. It then spread to India, Southeast Asia, West Africa, and the Caribbean.
The spice is used to flavor foods and beverages, and used to cure many things including: nausea, digestive cramping, headaches, morning sickness during pregnancy, motion sickness, and Chemotherapy nausea.
Most of the ginger plant can be used. The Rhizome (part of the stem), and roots, are most commonly used. |
