Daylight Savings Time is also called DST. In 1784, Benjamin Franklin came up with the theory of DST. He wrote a paper to extend daylight in order to save candles. In 1942, During World War II, President Franklin Roosevelt ordered a year-round daylight-savings time called “War Time,” which ran for three years.
