5th Grade Classroom News

The 5th grade students have been very hard at researching and designing their Science Share Fair projects. Families can come to Genoa Elementary School on January 25, 2017 between 10:00-11:30 to see what the students have done. If you plan on attending, you will need to bring your drivers license or state ID card in order to be admitted into the building.

Social Studies:  Exciting new curriculum for social studies where all students will be using a chromebook and Google Classroom.  This will be getting them prepared for using a chromebook in the middle school.  The next chapter is on ratifying the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  Then we will have the Westward Expansion.

Math: All students are working on fractions.  The next 3 topics are adding and subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions.

Reading:  Guided Reading groups with the focus on skills such as making inferences, plot, compare/contrast, etc.

The weather has been like a roller coaster ride. Please make sure your child is dressed for the changing temperatures that have been blanketing our area. The students go out for recess when the temperature is 0 degrees and above, this also includes the wind chill factor.
**Please check if the students need updated school supplies.  Pencils, paper, expo markers, kleenex, crayons, color pencils, etc.

Thank you for your continued support,
